Taylor Farms announced a significant strategic move into the United Kingdom and European markets through the acquisition of Chichester, England-based Natures Way Foods, a well-known provider of freshly prepared salads, cole slaw and potato salads.
Mindi Mayhew, director of communications for Taylor Fresh Foods, says this partnership will pave the way for U.S. products and brands to enter retail and foodservice in the UK.
Both companies will remain as separate supply chains, Mayhew says, and the current employees, executives and management teams will all remain at the company. Natures Way Food employs more than 1,300 people.
Mayhew says the company seeks to build a foundation of plants that supply the largest retailers and foodservice operations in Europe.
“Unique opportunities came available,” Mayhew says of the opportunity for Taylor Farms to enter the UK market, noting this relationship will “create a strong foundation for serving our customers.”
Taylor Farms says, as part of this deal, it will introduce new fresh and healthy products that align with consumer trends.
“Consumers want to enjoy fresh and healthier food, and we want to help lead that transition with convenient, great-tasting, fresh products,” Mayhew says.
Bruce Taylor, chairman and CEO of Taylor Farms, says in a news release that the company looks forward to expanding its global footprint.
“At Taylor Farms, our mission has always been to deliver fresh, healthy and delicious foods that enhance the well-being and quality of our consumers’ lives, and that mission extends beyond North America,” he says.
Colin Smith, CEO of Natures Way Foods, says in the announcement that joining Taylor Farms will help the company continue to invest and innovate.
“Our commitment to delivering exceptional fresh food products for our valued customers remains at the center of everything we do,” he says. “We are known for strong relationships and for quality, service and value.”
