Pollinators like bees play a critical role in global food production, responsible for pollinating over 75% of the world’s flowering crops and contributing to roughly one-third of the food we consume. However, bee populations face mounting challenges including habitat loss, disease, pesticides and climate change.
To support beekeepers on the front lines of pollinator care, BeeHero has introduced a beekeeping task manager tool. The digital platform is designed to streamline hive management, improve record keeping and optimize colony health, ultimately helping ensure stronger pollination outcomes for agriculture and food security.
The new Beekeeping Task Manager helps beekeepers plan, assign and track daily tasks with greater efficiency, according to a news release. Accessible via web and mobile apps, the tool enables seamless coordination of field visits and real-time updates to field teams. The mobile app also features offline pollination actions to allow beekeepers to log deployments in remote orchards with limited cell coverage and then sync when phones return online. BeeHero said this feature is especially critical for commercial agriculture regions with low coverage, such as in Australia, where the upcoming almond pollination is set to begin in August.
The new tool comes as bees are experiencing an ongoing crisis. Over 75% of global food crops rely on pollinators, but U.S. bee colony losses soared to an unprecedented 60% to 70% this past winter, threatening beekeepers’ livelihoods, growers’ crop yields and the global food supply. However, BeeHero’s data shows in that time frame, BeeHero-supported hives experienced significantly lower mortality rates of around 30%. The difference amounts collectively to over two billion bees saved by using BeeHero-monitored hives, the company said. Additionally, BeeHero says it enabled more efficient pollination using fewer, stronger hives, thus preventing 1,313 tons of CO₂ emissions through reduced colony transport.
