Smooth-skinned and golden yellow, cape gooseberries are about the size of a large grape. The flesh is sweet and juicy with edible seeds, encased in a thin, papery husk. They can be used in the same way as a tomato. Cape gooseberries are sometimes called a ground cherry, goldenberry or physalis.
