Commodity Overview

The brown, brittle shell of the tamarindo contains brown pulp studded with seeds. The sour-sweet pulp, when dried, turns sour tasting. It's most commonly used to make a paste that can be used in Asian cooking. Also called tamarind, this fruit is available year-round with peak season from early spring to late fall.
