Feijoa

Commodity Overview

Feijoa is an oval-shaped fruit that has dark green thin skin and creamy white flesh with tiny edible seeds. The whole fruit is edible--the skin is tart and the flesh has a tropical taste. Feijoas are sweet enough to be eaten out of hand; they're also known as dessert fruits because they work well in baked goods, custards, ice creams and sorbets. The fruit is also called pineapple guava, but it is unrelated to guava. It is available during most of the year from California and New Zealand.
