Daikon resembles a white carrot and has a juicy-crisp flesh that tastes slightly hotter than a radish. It is about a foot long and weighs between one-half and two pounds. It is also called Japanese or Oriental radish. It can be eaten raw--often shredded or sliced--or steamed. It is available year-round.
