Sweet onions tend to be larger and generally round with flatter bottoms than standard onions. Sweet onions are milder and sweeter also and not sold year-round from storage as they can only be stored for a few months. Sweet onions from Texas, often called the Texas 1015, have common characteristics as others and are usually sold from March until June.
