The new Fast & Fresh concept from Hy-Vee made its debut in Davenport, Iowa, this week.
The store is designed to serve “the busy customer who needs a more convenient grocery and meal experience while on the go,” according to a news release.
Hy-Vee plans to open a second Fast & Fresh location next year in Altoona.
The store is 10,000 square feet and includes made-to-order meals, wood-oven pizza, sushi, mealtime kits, and a selection of fresh produce, meat, dairy and bakery products. The store also has a Starbucks and 14 gas pumps, and there is also a spot for grocery pickup.
Fast & Fresh will be open 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. seven days a week, with the Starbucks closing at 9 p.m. each day.
This store is the latest experiment by Hy-Vee with a smaller format; the retailer also opened its first HealthMarket location earlier this year and plans to open more in 2019.
