Landover, Md.-based Giant Food plans to spend $175 million in the next two years on 24 store remodels and one new store.

“Enhanced” produce offerings, expanded natural and organic departments, fresh-squeezed juice bars and full-service florists will be among the amenities at the remodeled stores, according to a news release. Upgraded check-out zones and full-service pharmacies are also in the plans.

“As the region’s leading grocer, this announcement is part of our long-term commitment to deliver a consistently exceptional experience for our shoppers,” president Gordon Reid said in the release. “We look forward to updating and enhancing our existing stores and constructing both new and replacement locations to give our shoppers a fresh and imaginative selection, unique in-store experiences and superior customer service.”

Giant intends to continue to make health a focus with pharmacies, in-store nutrition programs and the Guiding Stars nutrition rating system.
