With a strong musky flavor, muscadines are pink, purple or nearly black or bronze with thick skins. Their light-green flesh is sweet and juicy. They are most often used in jellies and jams or in wine. They can also be eaten out of hand. They are also called bullis, Southern grapes or swamp grapes. They are available from August to October.
