Commodity Overview

Grapelike in appearance, jaboticaba has a dark maroon skin with a muscadine flavor. Each piece contains one to four seeds, and fruit grows off a central stem as opposed to most other fruits that grow from terminal branches. It is good in jellies, jams and wine or eaten out of hand. The fruit is especially popular in South America. It is available March through June from Florida.
