Commodity: Durian

Commodity Overview

Durian has a semi-hard shell covered with thick spikes. It is known for its nauseating smell, which some equate to rotting fruit. But its creamy, slightly sweet, pale-yellow flesh has a rich, custardy texture. It can be pureed and used with other tropical fruits in baked goods, ice cream or custards. It is available from June through October from China, Thailand and Sri Lanka.
