United Fresh training set for FSMA import rules
The United Fresh Produce Association is sponsoring a training session to educate produce importers on requirements in the Food Safety Modernization Act.
The training is July 17-18 at Robinson Fresh’s facility in Monterey, Calif.
The Foreign Supplier Verification Program outlines what U.S. companies must verify in terms of their foreign supply partners. Exporters to the U.S. must maintain food safety practices that are in line with U.S. standards, and importers are required to ensure the suppliers are doing that.
According to a United Fresh news release, the on-site training will be taught by David Gombas, who retired from United Fresh as the senior vice president of food safety and technology, and Kathy Gombas, former senior advisor on food safety at the Food and Drug Administration.
