Wholesum debuts heirloom tomatoes at Global Organic Produce Expo
The company plans to debut the tomatoes at The Packer’s Global Organic Produce Expo, Jan. 9-11, in Miami Beach, Fla.
The tomatoes are organic and Fair Trade certified, according to a news release, and Wholesum selected varieties for their flavor and a longer shelf life. According to the company, the heirlooms maintain quality after 15 days.
“Tomatoes have always been one of our most beloved items here at Wholesum, so we’re excited to expand our lineup by bringing a fresh take on a timeless treasure” Ricardo Crisantes, chief commercial officer, said in the release. “These aren’t your grandma’s heirloom tomatoes. For the past year, we have been testing out many different varieties to select the very best and it has been a labor of love perfecting them. I am confident consumers will be impressed.”
The tomatoes are red, yellow, green and brown, and flavors range from savory to sweet, according to the release. They’ll be shipped through the winter in 10-pounds trays.
Wholesum will be displaying the heirloom tomatoes at booth No. 307 at the Global Organic Produce Expo.
