USDA seeks nominees for National Watermelon Promotion Board

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is seeking nominations of qualified watermelon importers for four seats on the National Watermelon Promotion Board.

The seats will succeed members whose terms expire Dec. 31 this year, according to a news release.

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue will select individuals from the nominations submitted to serve terms of office that will begin Jan.1, 2021, and end Dec. 31, 2023, according to the release.

The release said the board will conduct a nomination teleconference March 9, 2020, at 1 p.m. ET.

According to the release, the board is made up of 41 industry members including 14 producers, 14 handlers, 12 importers and one public member.
