University of Florida offers stone fruit events
People looking to start growing peaches and growers who want to improve the trees they already have are the focus of the Stone Fruit Workshop and Field Day scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. April 30, at the University of Florida’s Plant Science Research and Education Unit at the Frank Stronach Conference Center in Citra, Fla.
The event is organized by the university and its Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences Extension.
Ali Sarkhosh, José Chaparro and several other stone fruit experts will share about producing peaches in subtropical Florida, peach pest prevention and management, progress in developing low-chill peach varieties, and other topics.
Maxijet is sponsoring the event, which will include coffee, lunch and snack breaks. CEU credits will be available for those applying for pesticide licenses.
The deadline for free registration is April 23. Find tickets at bit.ly/stone-fruit-workshop.
