SnapDragon apples and San Diego Zoo offer ‘monster crunch’ pop-up
SnapDragon Apples and the San Diego Zoo created a pop-up event to share the apple’s signature “monster crunch.”
At the zoo entrance, more than 4,000 zoo goers tasted the proprietary apple variety grown exclusively by the 147 farmers of Lockport, N.Y.-based Crunch Time Apple Growers.
“These types of events help us show retailers out West that New York apples are delicious, and consumers want them,” Rena Montedoro, the grower organization’s vice president of sales and marketing, said in the release.
Crunch Time is hosting an online sweepstakes through March 31, for SnapDragon fans to win a vacation for four to the San Diego Zoo. The winner will receive four tickets to the Animals in Action tour, provided by the zoo. Crunch Time will cover hotel expenses, as much as $1,000 in airfare, SnapDragon clothing and a box of SnapDragon apples for the four winners.
“This family-oriented, high-traffic West Coast destination allowed us to sample one of New York’s hottest apples. It just shows retailers SnapDragon can compete with any other managed variety apple out there,” Sara Wells of Crunch Time said in the release. Wells offered apple samples at the zoo event.
