Primed for papayas — A look at sales growth over the last five years

Unit and dollar sales of papayas rose noticeably in 2019. Continuing to move the needle for papayas will be largely a matter of introducing the fruit to more people; according to The Packer’s 2020 Fresh Trends consumer survey, only 6% of shoppers purchased the large fruit in the last 12 months.
Providing simple, enticing recipes to encourage shoppers to take the plunge will be key. Sampling those recipes – a tried-and-true technique that has been on hold recently due to the pandemic – is the ideal approach.
