Oppy celebrates 10-year partnership with Orchard View
The Vancouver-based Oppenheimer Group is celebrating a decade of partnering with The Dalles, Ore.-based Orchard View Inc.
“We are very proud to be celebrating our 10th year as the exclusive marketer of Orchard View cherries,” James Milne, vice president of marketing, categories and business development at Oppy, said in a news release. “We’ve established a strong partnership and it’s been a great fit because their season is only an eight-week window, they can capitalize on Oppy’s 52-week presence of meeting the top retailers in North America.”
With more than 3,400 acres in The Dalles, Oregon, Orchard View is dedicated to cherries, according to the release.
“We choose the best varieties for the time and place,” Brenda Thomas, Orchard View’s president, said in the release. “Last year we installed new equipment to fine-tune the packing line. Furthermore, our focus during the past 12 months has been enhancing our efficiency, volume and quality in the orchard.”
The release said Orchard View expects to harvest around 1.3 million boxes of cherries this year, according to the release. Peak cherry movement from Orchard View is anticipated from late June through the third week of July, according to the release.
“Our team is looking to opportunities in July,” Milne said in the release. “We’re encouraging retailers to maintain the momentum beyond Canada Day and Independence Day holiday ads. We expect cherries to be in high demand for these long-weekend celebrations given the reduction of volume available from California.
