The Oppenheimer Group teases new packaging
The Oppenheimer Group teased new apple packaging at the Produce Marketing Association’s Fresh Summit. The packaging pictured at the virtual booth is a pyramid-shaped paper-based graphic container and holds four Jazz apples.
The Jazz pyramid pack is destined for a trial early next year, said Karin Gardner, executive director of marketing for Oppy.
“It’s still in the development phase but garnered a great deal of interest in the show,” she said.
In a promotion at Oppy’s virtual booth, the company offered a complimentary $5 Starbucks e-coffee card to visitors who clicked “Add to My Wish List,” only eligible between Oct. 13-15, with total redemption limited to $800 per day.
Oppy offered numerous videos in its booth and promoted its year-round ginger availability in bags, clamshells and bulk.
“The new organic ginger pack we showcased also caught a lot of eyeballs,” Gardner said. “Our ginger, grown in Peru, is a fairly new item for Oppy that is gathering momentum. We offer it in 1.75-pound bags and clamshells, as well as bulk.”
Garner said the show delivered on connecting the industry and value.
“They staged an event that reminded all of us what an amazing industry we are so fortunate to work in — no small task in a virtual setting.”
