North Bay Produce recalls apples after listeria test
The company issued the recall Oct. 25, after a test on a finished product, according to a news release. It did not specify where the tested product was in the supply chain, or what agency did the test.
No illnesses have been linked to the apples, which were shipped to a number of states.
North Bay Produce ceased production at the originating facility when it was notified of the test, and is working with the Food and Drug Administration, according to the release.
The company is working with commercial customers to remove the recalled apples.
They went to wholesalers, retailer and brokers in Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, North Carolina, Texas and Wisconsin, according to the release.
Varieties in the recall are mcIntosh, Honeycrisp, jonathan, fuji, jonamac and red delicious. They are in plastic bags with the brands Great Lakes, North Bay Produce Pure Michigan, and unbranded in clear plastic tote bags, white paper bags, and individually from retailer display trays, according to the release.
Red delicious apples in the recall were sent to the North Carolina Department of Agriculture’s Food Distribution Division-Butner in Creedmoor, and Feeding South Florida in Pembroke, Park, Fla
All apples involved were shipped from Oct. 16-21; any apples shipped before then is not included in the recall.
