New York Apple celebrates awards
The New York Apple Association and its president and CEO, Cynthia Haskins, have been recognized for several awards in 2018 and 2019.
In 2018, the association won the distinction of Business of the Year from the New York State Agricultural Society.
In June 2019, the association won a Telly Award in the Business-to-Consumer, Local-TV category for its TV commercial. The Telly Award was established in 1979 and regularly receives more than 12,000 entries from 50 states and five continents.
“Receiving this award is extra special to us, as we had many apple growers involved in the making of it,” Haskins said in an association news release.
“The commercial aired in New York state and on social media platforms throughout the year. It will continue to air this coming apple season.”
Showcasing the association’s new Apples From New York brand, the commercial was produced by Rochester-based creative agency Dixon Schwabl. A drone camera captured footage of the state’s apple growers standing throughout a commercial apple orchard.
The commercial aired on TV channels including Bravo, Food Network, HGTV, Lifetime, TLC, USA and TBS during programs such as “The Today Show,” “The Voice,” “This is Us,” “Chicago Fire,” “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,” “Superstore,” “Dateline” and “Saturday Night Live.”
