Naturipe to sample Pacific Centennial raspberry at expo

Naturipe, Salinas, Calif., is introducing a proprietary raspberry, the Pacific Centennial, designed to please consumer flavor demands, adapt to growing environments and please retailers with enhanced shelf stability.

The jumbo Pacific Centennial raspberry is juicy yet firm, described as having a “classic” red raspberry flavor with a hint of pomegranates, according to a Naturipe news release.

The berry came from Pacific Berry Breeding, which was established Hortifrut and Naturipe Berry Growers in 2003 to find high yield berries with “exceptional taste,” according to the release.

“At Naturipe, we’re about doing more than just providing flavorful, fresh berries,” CarrieAnn Arias, vice president of marketing at Naturipe, said in the release. “Certainly, that’s a big part of what we do, but we’re also dedicated to growing better. That means working with our grower families to find varieties that are capable of handling our wonderful, unpredictable Mother Nature.”

Naturipe will be sampling the Pacific Centennial at the Produce Marketing Association’s Fresh Summit expo Oct. 18-19 in Anaheim, Calif., at booth No. 4173.
