Natural Delights moves to recycled plastic packaging

Natural Delights, Yuma, Ariz., is launching new packaging made from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic for its dates.

The new packaging will begin appearing on retail shelves this month.

“Our new green packaging for tub containers will help to keep 800 tons of plastic out of landfills and oceans, reducing water consumption by 34 million gallons and eliminate 1,200 tons of CO2 emissions,” David Baxter, brand manager of Natural Delights, said in a news release.

The company also is converting most display materials to kraft paper material, which is certified by the Sustainable Forestry Initiative, according to the release. Baxter said that increases the amount of recycled material by 50%, improving the recyclability of the box.

“We continue to invest in packaging sustainability in order to do what is best for our business, consumers, and the environment," he said in the release.
