Mission's #GreenFriday focuses on avocados after Thanksgiving
Mission Produce is asking consumers to go green on Black Friday.
Mission is focusing on the day after Thanksgiving for a hass avocado promotion, dubbed #GreenFriday.
“This avo-casion is a comprehensive social media and retail program designed to promoted the usage of avocados in Thanksgiving leftover meals,” according to a news release.
Mission is taking advantage of a post-Thanksgiving trend the past two years, when retailers saw at 30% lift in avocado sales by promoting avocados after the holiday.
“We have noticed that Americans are eating more avocados during this time frame and Mission Produce’s retail partners have profited from it,” Patrick Cortes, Mission’s senior director of business development, said in the release. “Due to an ample supply of avocados and the opportunity to push a hot item, retailers experienced a 30% lift by promoting avocados after Thanksgiving.”
Mission has teamed up with social media’s @TheModernProper, which has created four unique recipes and will post them on social media, according to the release.
Mission also will share the recipes on all of its social media sites on #GreenFriday.
“Our #GreenFriday campaign offers retailers a great way to promote avocados after Thanksgiving,” Mission’s director of marketing Denise Junqueiro said in the release. “Black Friday is America’s day of discounts and Mission Produce’s #GreenFriday program is one of the best deals around.”
