Millennials Eat — The Great Halloween Produce-or-Candy Experiment!
Would your kids choose apple slices or mandarins over Snickers and M&Ms? Retail editor Ashley Nickle and copy editor and designer Amelia Freidline provided the option to kids trick-or-treating at their houses this Halloween, and the results might surprise you.
Their experiment was inspired by United Fresh Produce Association president Tom Stenzel, who for years has offered both candy and produce for Halloween and who has encouraged his staff to do the same.
So this year, Amelia and her family offered mandarins and small apples in one bowl and candy in another, and Ashley and her family offered sliced apple packs with caramel, mandarins and candy in a single bowl.
