Industry invited to cheer on Tour de Fresh cyclists
As the sixth annual Tour de Fresh approaches, participants are inviting members of the produce industry to make plans to attend the Finish Line Ceremony as cyclists complete their rides.
Tour de Fresh is scheduled in connection with the Produce Marketing Association’s Fresh Summit. The ceremony is set for 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 16 at the Anaheim (Calif.) Convention Center, according to a news release.
“We know everyone is already making their travel plans, meeting plans, and dinner plans for the convention, so we are asking that you add just one more event to your schedule and attend finish line event with us on Wednesday,” Cindy Jewell, of the California Giant Foundation, said in the release. “Bring a sign, a noise maker, or just your loud voice to cheer these colleagues on as they complete their 300-mile journey to support the United Fresh Start Foundation and salad bars for schools,” she adds.
Tour de Fresh is presented by the California Giant Foundation and raises funds to benefit the Salad Bar to Schools campaign, according to the release. To date, the event has place more than 230 salad bars in schools and raised more than $750,000.
