Driscoll’s Rosé and Sweetest Batch brands offer unique berries
The “curated collection,” Rosé Berries and Sweetest Batch, are available at retailers starting June 12, according to a news release. Rosé Strawberries, Rosé Raspberries and Sweetest Batch Strawberries will be available June through September and Sweetest Batch Raspberries will be available July through September, according to Driscoll’s web page on the new items.
“Introducing an immersive berry eating experience with both Rosé Berries and Sweetest Batch is a testament to our thoughtful and dedicated breeding process,” Rick Harrison, vice president of global variety development, said in the release.
The berries are available at Whole Foods Markets in Northern California, and through Baldor Specialty Foods and Fresh Direct on the East Coast. Fresh Direct is a delivery service in the New York City area. The Sweetest Batch raspberries are available only at Northern California Whole Foods.
Driscoll’s research and development department bred the berries through traditional methods; they are not genetically-modified, and available only to Driscoll’s growers.
The company’s agronomists, breeders, sensory analysts, plant health scientists and entomologists — dubbed the Joy Makers — are working on other varieties in the limited-edition flavorful collection, according to the release.
“It’s taken a long time to perfect these offerings — not only for the trend-forward color and desirable texture but for the superior taste,” Fran Dillard, senior director of brand and product marketing at Driscoll’s, said in the release.
The company describes the pink-hued Rosé berries has having a “smooth, silky, creamy texture that delivers a sweet, peachy flavor paired with a soft floral finish.” Sweetest Batch berries deliver a “richer eating experience,” inspiring memorable moments of indulgence, according to the release.
“Our team has worked tirelessly to offer the flavor-forward, highly enjoyable berries consumers have come to expect from Driscoll’s,” Naomi Sakoda, Driscoll’s product marketing manager, said in the release.
