Costa Rica produce to be exhibited to U.S. marketers
Costa Rica plans to bring a wide assortment of produce to the Produce Marketing Association’s Fresh Summit.
Highlighted produce from Costa Rica includes pineapples, yuca (cassava), bananas, chayotes, rambutans, squash and specialty root products such as eddoe, malanga, and ñame (yam), according to a news release.
“Costa Rica’s continuing reputation in the marketplace for high-quality fruits and vegetables allows us to credibly expand our lines,” Pedro Beirute, CEO of Procomer, Costa Rica’s trade promotion agency, said in the release. “We look forward to showing even more of what our growers and exporters have to offer during Fresh Summit.”
A variety of exporters also plan to attend Fresh Summit, according to the release.
“Costa Rica’s ag sector represents 25% of the country’s total exports,” Beirute said. “The U.S. is our principal export partner for ag products and receives 45% of our ag exports.”
The Costa Rica Pavilion at the Fresh Summit expo is Oct. 18-19 at booth No. 1175.
