Citrus shows spike in interest on Produce Market Guide

Though the holiday season is ramping up and autumnal favorites are still in the mix, searches on Produce Market Guide the week of Nov. 4 showed a marked interest in one of winter's domestic specialties: citrus.

The Produce Market Guide platform connects produce buyers and sellers. Below, find the top 20 searched commodities on Produce Market Guide during the week of Nov. 4.

Oranges maintained their No. 1 status from the previous week, while avocados climbed from No. 8 to No. 2, and apples slid down to the No. 3 spot. Lettuce moved up a place to No. 4, and pomegranates shot up to No. 5 from No. 11 the previous week.

Mandarins and tangerines showed a dramatic gain in interest, going from No. 19 the previous week to No. 7 the week of Nov. 4. Potatoes slipped one spot, to No. 8, while sweet potatoes held steady at No. 9 and cabbage climbed from No. 17 to No. 10.

Lemons maintained their spot at No. 13, while turnips returned to the list at No. 14. The citrus giant pummelo made its first appearance in the top 20 at No. 16, while pears and tomatoes rounded out the top 20.
