Caplan Family Business Scholarship accepting applications
Applications are being accepted for 2019 Frieda Rapoport Caplan Family Business Scholarships.
The program allows representatives from family-owned, United Fresh Produce Association member companies to attend the United Fresh Washington Conference Sept. 16-18 in Washington D.C.
Scholarship recipients receive airfare, hotel and conference registration, according to a news release.
The Frieda Rapoport Caplan Family Business Scholarship Program was founded in 2001 by Karen Caplan and Jackie Caplan Wiggins, daughters of Frieda Rapoport Caplan, founder of specialty produce company Frieda’s Inc.
Recipients are chosen based on interest in advocacy work and commitment to the produce industry, according to the release.
“Thanks to the very generous support and leadership of the Caplan family, family businesses throughout the industry benefit from this exceptional leadership opportunity,” Miriam Wolk, United Fresh vice president of member services, said in the release.
Recipients can network with industry executives, gain understanding of the political process, and learn how to advocate for issues.
Online applications are at www.unitedfresh.org. For questions or assistance, contact Mary Alameda, United Fresh industry relations manager, at 202-303-3413.
