Calavo Growers publishes first sustainability report

Santa Paula, Calif.- based Calavo Growers, Inc. has announced the publication of their first sustainability highlights report.

The report covers performance and sustainability-related initiatives of Calavo Fresh, Calavo Foods and Renaissance Food Group, according to a news release.

The report includes improvements for waste impact, a new sustainability policy and plans to organize environmental and social programs, according to the release.

Other subjects highlighted in the report are environmentally friendly products, additional training programs and plans to centralize environmental data collection for understanding waste impacts.

Calavo has also established a Sustainability Council with representatives from each primary business unit, according to the release.

“I’m proud to introduce Calavo’s first report dedicated to our sustainability efforts,” Lee Cole, chairman, president and CEO of Calavo, said in the release. “While environmental and social responsibility has been part of our corporate culture for decades, this is the first time we’ve put together a summary of related activities to share with our stakeholders. 
“With the growing interest in sustainability from our customers, investors, suppliers and communities, I anticipate this will be the first of many reports to come.”
