Accu-Label highlights sustainability at Fresh Summit
With the industry trend to replace plastic packaging with more sustainable materials, the focus has been on what the produce is packed in. Accu-Label is doing its part by changing what’s on fruits and vegetables.
The company’s proprietary label has a paper face stock sourced from suppliers with sustainably managed forest, Accu-Label President Joe Sleiman said in a news release.
“We are constantly exploring the use of new materials and there is a ton of hype around PLA, a commonly used bioplastic,” he said in the release. “The paper face stock is a key point of distinction from competitors as looming bans on single-use plastics threatens the viability of plastic PLU labels in the foreseeable future.”
Accu-Label is exhibiting at the Produce Marketing Association’s Fresh Summit expo Oct. 18-19 in Anaheim, Calif., at booth No. 4017.
The company will also be discussing the ORB-it G-2 labelling system, which has high application rates, even on “wet and fuzzy” fruits, according to the release.
