The Edinburg Citrus Association, founded in 1932, has a grower membership throughout the tropical Rio Grande Valley of Texas stretching from the Gulf Coast westward. ECA?s loyal grower membership is the backbone of this historic company and represents thousands of acres of sweet and juicy Texas Red Grapefruit and Oranges. The company?s attention to detail extends from its growing operation through the packing process to deliver the finest quality Texas Red Grapefruit and Oranges to consumers. ECA features dark red grapefruit developed by Texas scientists specifically for the growing area. The interior color of the Rio Star variety is 7 to 10 times darker than the renowned Ruby Red and the exterior of the fruit boasts an overall red blush. While the interior color is certainly impressive, it?s the taste that makes it so special. The superior sugar-to-acid ratio and the juiciness of the fruit combine to create a sweet, sensory experience. ECA?s Texas oranges also offer the South Texas difference of high sugars, thin-skin and fruit so full of juice that they are considered ?heavy? for their size.
